What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy describes how Lyra ("Lyra", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Lyra Mac application and the website at heylyra.co.uk.

The short version

Lyra is private by default. Your everyday typing is processed on-device. Cloud features are optional and Pro-gated — Strict Local-Only mode disables all network use. We collect the minimum information needed to provide accounts and subscriptions: your email address (from Google sign-in) and your subscription status. We do not store what you type or what Lyra rewrites. How Lyra uses the cloud sets out exactly which features run where, and what our server sees.

Information we collect

When you sign in:

• Your email address (from your Google account)
• Your Google account ID (used to identify your Lyra account across devices)
• An account creation timestamp

When you subscribe:

• Subscription status (active, cancelled, expired)
• Plan type (monthly or yearly)
• Subscription renewal/expiry date
• A unique subscription identifier from our payment processor

Payment details (card number, billing address, etc.) are processed and stored by our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy. We never see or store payment information. See "Subprocessors" below.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

• The text you type in any application
• The rewrites that Lyra produces
• Keystrokes, screenshots, or screen recordings
• The names of applications you use Lyra in
• Usage analytics, telemetry, or behavioural data
• Crash reports or diagnostic data that contain message content

Everyday rewriting happens locally on your Mac using a model that is downloaded to your device on first launch. Once downloaded, your everyday writing needs no internet connection. The optional cloud features simply pause when you are offline, and are disabled entirely in Strict Local-Only mode. How Lyra uses the cloud lists them.

How we use the information we do collect

• To create and maintain your Lyra account
• To validate your subscription and unlock Pro features when you subscribe
• To contact you about your account or subscription (for example, a renewal receipt or a security notice)
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

Where your information is stored

Account and subscription data is stored in Supabase, a managed database service. Supabase processes this data on our behalf. Storage is in the EU (Ireland region).

The Lyra model and your local rewrite history live only on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/Lyra/. This data is not synced to any server.

Subprocessors

We use the following processors to operate Lyra:

• Supabase (database, authentication, real-time sync) — supabase.com
• Google (sign-in identity provider) — google.com
• Lemon Squeezy (payment processing, Merchant of Record) — lemonsqueezy.com
• Cloudflare (website hosting, model file distribution) — cloudflare.com

Each processor is bound by their own privacy policy and our agreement with them.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account information for as long as your Lyra account is active. If you delete your account (see Data Controls), we delete your account and subscription records within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, tax records related to past payments).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

• Access the information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your account data in a portable format
• Object to processing or restrict it

Children

Lyra is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA and UK). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we will delete the account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be announced via email to your account address and on this page. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
