Lyra updates itself. To check now, open Lyra’s Settings from the menu bar and click Check for updates.
Lyra 0.26.1 Latest
Lyra now uses much less memory while you write: the on-device model takes about 1.5 GB instead of 4 GB, so your Mac stays fast with lots of apps open
The first time it starts after updating, Lyra spends a few seconds preparing its on-device model. This happens once
Without Lyra Cloud, nothing you write ever leaves your Mac, not even while Lyra is setting up. Suggestions start as soon as the on-device model has downloaded
Lyra 0.26.0
Lyra is now a one-time purchase: $69.99 and it's yours for good, with every on-device feature included
New to Lyra? You get a 7-day free trial of the full on-device app
Everything now runs privately on your Mac by default. Lyra Cloud is an optional subscription you can turn on in Settings
Already subscribed to Pro? Nothing changes while your subscription is active, and you keep Lyra for life after it ends
Macs with 12GB of memory or more, including 16GB Macs, now use a larger, sharper on-device model. If your Mac runs short of memory, Lyra switches itself to the lighter model
On-device suggestions are much faster, and “Rewrite for clarity” now works on your Mac without the cloud
Lyra hands its memory back to your Mac while you're not writing
Click anywhere and a suggestion steps aside: it never blocks your clicks or text selection
“Rewrite for clarity” on long messages now appears once per message instead of on every pause
If a sentence needs no changes, Lyra says so instead of offering it back to you
Fixed capital letters at the start of sentences and “I” were sometimes left lowercase
Fixed a suggestion could show an older version of your sentence after you kept typing
Fixed short pauses in Lyra while switching between apps
Lyra no longer offers an on-device rewrite of non-English text when Cloud is off, so it can't accidentally translate your writing
Lyra 0.25.0
Suggestions are now a small marker beside your cursor instead of a box over your writing. Press Tab to read the suggestion, and Tab again to use it, or just keep typing and it disappears on its own
The marker sits in the empty space after your text, so it no longer covers what you're writing, including in Word, Slack, Teams, Chrome and VS Code
When you're editing in the middle of a sentence, the marker shrinks to its smallest size so it stays out of your words
New Lyra mark in suggestions: a wave over a line, meaning “a better version of what you wrote”
Right-to-left writing (Arabic, Hebrew): the marker now appears on the correct side of your cursor
Pressing Return to send a message now clears the suggestion immediately
Lyra 0.24.2
Suggestions now get out of your way while you're dictating, the same way they already did while you're typing. No more suggestion sitting on top of your words until it times out
Every suggestion now shows an Esc key you can press, or click, to close it
Suggestions no longer land on top of the text you've written when there isn't room above the box you're typing in
Lyra 0.24.1
Fixed sign-in getting stuck: if you closed the Google or Apple tab without finishing, the sign-in button stopped responding until you quit and reopened Lyra
Sign-in now tells you when something goes wrong instead of doing nothing
Lyra 0.24.0
Lyra now learns how you write and shows you what it learned. Open Tone in Settings to see the voice profile it built for each person you write to, and correct it if it's wrong
Accepting a suggestion is now near-instant in VS Code, Slack, Teams, Discord and Claude Desktop. It was taking up to a second
Fixed Tab not accepting suggestions in Gmail compose
Fixed a crash when quitting Lyra
Fixed Lyra continuing to suggest after you paused it in VS Code
Redesigned Settings: the menu bar dropdown is now glance-and-go, with full windows for Tone, Stats, Account and your dictionary
Rewrites hold onto your voice more instead of over-polishing it
Lyra 0.23.0
Cloud rewrites now recover instantly if your session expires, instead of quietly falling back to on-device
Faster cloud responses: we removed a network round-trip from every request
You can now send diagnostics and attach a file when messaging support, so problems can be fixed without back-and-forth
